The carrier was working in the 7800-block of Essex when he was shot around 10 a.m., according to a post office public information officer. He was taken to South Shore Hospital by his supervisor.
Bernard Johnson was hit in the arm, but declined an ambulance at the scene. Officials have not said who fired the BB gun.
Johnson is not regularly scheduled on that route, but is a regular substitute.
