Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica is suing his opponent in Tuesday's election and the village of McCook, following his weekend arrest for allegedly destroying campaign signs.

Village of McCook police arrested Commissioner Peraica Saturday night and charged him with damaging campaign signs of his opponent, McCook mayor Jeffrey Tobolski.

Peraica says his civil rights were violated by the "false arrest." He is seeking $2 million in damages for "pain and suffering" and "emotional distress."
