The longtime leader of Chicago's Apostolic Church of God was honored at Chicago City Council and Cook County Board meetings.

Bishop Arthur Brazier's son and oldest daughter were in the chamber as a proclamation was read. Brazier died last month at age 89 after losing a battle with prostate cancer.

Brazier led his South Side church for nearly 50 years and was also remembered for his role as a civil rights activist.
