Former Chicago Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa's corked bat, which failed to sell at auction Sunday, was purchased by the head of Harry Caray's Restaurant Group.

Umpires found the cork-- which violates baseball rules-- when Sosa's bat shattered during a 2003 game. During the confusion, then Cubs pitcher Mike Remlinger grabbed the barrel of the bat. He kept it and recently offered to auction it.

Grant DePorter, the restaurant group's chief executive officer, bought the bat for $14,400 plus a $2,100 commission.
