Naperville police protest layoffs

November 16, 2010 (NAPERVILLE, Ill.)

The Fraternal Order of Police picketed outside the City Council meeting, saying the layoffs compromise public safety.

The cuts came just after Naperville police officers scored a pay hike.

The city says it cut the jobs to help make up for a $5 million budget hole. But the police union says that's nonsense and that the city is $20 million in the good.

The union has filed an unfair labor notice with the state.
