The Chicago Transit Agency said it appears the gates were down and working properly at the time of the crash.
"Train was travelling west. We're not sure of the direction of travel on the car. Train hit the car, first train in the set derailed, damaged the platform as it was going down," said
No train passengers were hurt, but the engineer was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
Trains traveling through the area are sharing one set of tracks. They are not stopping at the Kedzie station. Shuttle buses are operating between Kimball and Western.
