A new family shelter is now available for those in need. Catholic Charities' Madonna House is intended to offer a safe place for families.

Cardinal Francis George presided over the dedication ceremony Monday.

The Madonna House replaces a former shelter for the homeless on the city's North Side. The shelter offers an environment where families can focus on goals like finding employment, affordable childcare and saving money.

The address is confidential because it shares a campus with a domestic violence program.
