5 hurt in South Side home invasion

Emergency crews responded to the 1200-block of West 72nd Street Tuesday around 7 p.m.

Wentworth-area detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the home invasion.

Police reportedly recovered a mask used in the break-in in the living room and were using it to try to identify the offender.

One person was taken in serious-to-critical condition to John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, while one other person was taken in stable condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.

Another person was taken to St. Bernard in good condition, and two others were also listed in good condition at Holy Cross Hospital, he said.
