Loaded gun found outside elementary school

Police say a loaded gun was found outside a Wheaton school Wednesday.

The 9 millimeter semiautomatic pistol was discovered on the grounds of Madison Elementary about 75 yards from the building. Investigators say it was found by an area resident before the start of classes.

Police searched inside and outside the building to make sure there were no other weapons. None were found.

Classes went on as scheduled.
