Firefighters, paramedics approve new contract

Chicago firefighters and paramedics have overwhelmingly ratified a new contract that gives them a 10-percent pay raise over five years.

In return, the city gets manpower changes that will help reduce overtime costs.

Chicago's the city council must ratify the contract, which would be retroactive to 2007 and run through June 2012.
