10 students arrested after fight at Foreman HS

December 16, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Witnesses tell ABC7 the brawl began between two students outside the lunchroom and quickly escalated into a full-blown melee.

Police responded and managed to calm the students down. One officer received minor injuries. Ten students involved in the altercation were arrested.

ABC7 talked to a number of students who say they were caught up in the fight.

"A Hispanic boy had got into it with a black boy and then they started arguing and a girl jumped in. And then the next thing you know everyone started swinging," said Charlonda Dobson, Foreman student. "It was a mess.

"There was a lot going on. You could see blood everywhere," said James Johnson, Foreman student.

Students say the school was on lockdown after the fight that began around 1:00 p.m. When students were dismissed at 3 p.m., there was a heavy police presence as they made their way home.

One person was reportedly transported in fair condition to Lutheran General Hospital.
