Freight train strikes truck in Riverdale

A driver had to be cut out of his pickup truck after it was struck by a freight train in Chicago's south suburbs.The crash happened just before 7 a.m. at Acme and Perry streets in Riverdale.

Police say the truck's driver went around downed gates and was hit by the train.

Firefighters had to cut the driver out because the vehicle was demolished and he was pinned under the dashboard.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
