A Chicago building inspector was sentenced Friday to three years in federal prison for demanding and accepting bribes from developers. Jose Hernandez was convicted of bribery following a trial in September. The U.S. Attorney's office says he took cash bribes totaling about $30,000 from developers and homeowners since at least 2005.

Hernandez, 47, had worked for the city as an inspector since 1988.
