Indiana state police say the driver of a stolen car dodged a blockade and struck a state trooper, injuring his leg.

State police say they got a call about a hit-and-run crash near LaPorte. They say a trooper spotted the vehicle and chased it about 6:30 p.m. CST Monday on Interstate 90, east of Gary.

About 17 miles west of the first crash, another trooper was deploying his stop sticks when the car swerved and hit him.

Sgt. Ann Wojas says 30-year-old Trooper George Hornsby had surgery at Gary's North Lake Hospital. He will have to undergo more surgery early Tuesday afternoon.

Wojas says the fleeing vehicle exited northbound at Portage on Willowcreek Road. The while male driver and white female passenger remained at large late Monday. The car had been reported stolen to Gary police Thursday, Wojas said.

Police are seeking a 2003 silver Toyota Camry four-door with front-end damage and Indiana In God We Trust license plate JF1575.

Anyone with information is asked to call 574-206-2931.
