Michael Robinson, 42, of Chicago, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 7:30 p.m. after being shot in the face.
Police say Robinson was standing on the sidewalk outside of a store in the 1000 block of West 63rd Street around 6:35 p.m. when a man shot him. The shooter then ran to Carpenter Street and got into a late-model Ford Crown Victoria. The car, driven by a second person, fled southbound.
Both suspects are described as black men in their 20s or 30s. One was approximately 5'11"-6'2", wearing a brown Carhartt-type jacket and a knit hat. The other man was described as wearing a white Gucci jacket.
The Crown Victoria had a rear bumper that is a different color than the body of the vehicle. The vehicle resembles a taxi cab or is possibly a retired or current taxi cab.
