In March the U.S. Postal Service will start closing as many as 2,000 post offices across the country, including two in the Chicago area.

Post offices at 2148 East 71st Street on Chicago's South Side and at 5325 West 5th Avenue in Gary, Indiana will soon be closing their doors.

Most other post offices on the list are in rural areas. They may no longer be profitable in the age of e-mail. The U.S. Postal Service lost more than $8 billion.
