Bolingbrook officer killed in car crash

A suburban police officer was killed in a crash in the southwest suburbs Sunday.

Officer Sava Basic and his wife were on their way to church when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree in unincorporated Oswego.

Basic was thrown from the car and died from his injuries. His wife was slightly hurt.

Officer Basic was a three-year veteran of the Bolingbrook Police Department.
