As of Monday morning, just 15 cars remain unclaimed from the hundreds that got stuck on Lake Shore Drive during the storm.

In light of what happened during the blizzard, Senators Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk want federal officials to look into ways to protect the Lake Michigan shoreline.

With the images of cars stranded on Lake Shore Drive fresh on their minds the senators are expressing concern.

They say waves could have a serious impact at several weak spots along the lakefront, including at Oak Street and Fullerton.

Both senators emphasized that they felt the city handled the blizzard well overall.
