Ford is recalling 1,600 new Explorer SUVs made at the company's Torrence Avenue plant in Chicago.

The automaker says the second row of seats do not meet federal safety standards in the event of a crash.

The recalled vehicles were made between July and December of last year.

Owners will receive recall notices next week.
