Some students at a school in Chicago have been pinching their pennies for a good cause.

Sixth graders at Budlong Elementary have been collecting pennies and other coins for several weeks for their "Pennies for Peace" leaders effort.

The money they raise will go to the Central Asia Institute, which builds schools for children in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Monday, the students totaled their pennies. They weighed more than 800 pounds and are worth $2,175.
