Study: Gym not significant source of staph infection

Remember that whole germs in the gym scare that was going on for awhile? Well, the risk may not be as bad as once thought.

At least not when it comes to developing staph infections.

A study in the American Journal of Infection Control found samples collected from exercise equipment did not test positive. They were analyzed for antibiotic resistant bacteria, such as MRSA, but none of the samples came back positive.

Scientists concluded, despite the increasing incidence of staph infections, gyms studied did not appear to be significant sources.
