A group of South Side students hopes Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel will help them get more afterschool programs.

Students at Monday's march say the number of shootings in the North Kenwood and Oakland neighborhoods has increased recently. One student said he expects the violence will get worse as the weather gets warmer.

The marchers are calling for more afterschool programs, violence intervention plans, and teen centers.

During his campaign, Emanuel talked about his plan to expand after school programs. The students said they hope he keeps his pledge.
