Northbound I-55 slowly opening up

Northbound Interstate 55 is beginning to open up after a complete shutdown Wednesday morning.

Illinois State Police in District 6 say traffic is now getting by in the right lane and the right shoulder, but the clean up is taking longer than expected.

There was a crash earlier Wednesday morning involving two trucks, one carrying coal. It overturned, and there is coal all over the road.

One non-life-threatening injury was reported in the crash, police said.

Police say they hope to have all northbound I-55 lanes open by 10 a.m. Wednesday.
