Study: Dan Ryan has worst bottlenecks

March 9, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The study shows that Chicago is the third most congested city in the nation behind Los Angeles and New York City.

On the Dan Ryan Expressway, there are three of the worst bottlenecks in the country.

Despite low job growth and high gas prices, traffic congestion is up 11 percent nationwide, according to a study by INRIX, a company which provides traffic and navigation services.

Traffic in Chicago did not increase, but it still is a nightmare in some places.

The worst time to be on the road is Friday at 5:15 p.m.

The three worst bottlenecks in Chicago are all on the Dan Ryan. The first one is the Dan Ryan at Canal Port. It is the worst in the city.

Then, there is Dan Ryan at Rugel, which is the seventh worst in the nation. The other is the Dan Ryan at 18th street.

The study also finds that drivers spend an equivalent of about a month per year in traffic. Just think what you can do in one month.

There are a lot better things than sitting in a car.
