Students from Libertyville High School are taking their vocal talents to the Vatican.

The 82 students leave Friday. The choir members will sing at St. Peter's Basilica during a Lenten mass on Sunday.

They will also perform during stops in Rome, Florence and Venice.

The students are thrilled to be going.

"I was really excited because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Italy with all of your friends, too," said Jenna Kaplan.

"I'm going to be going to one of the biggest churches known to man and I'm going to be singing there for other people," said Mark Rhind.

In the past, choral students from Libertyville have performed in Austria and the Czech Republic.
