More than 60 residents of Evanston's North Shore Retirement Hotel have fallen ill with a stomach ailment.

The norovirus outbreak began March 19 and some residents are still feeling the effects.

The virus spreads through person to person contact. Symptoms include stomach cramping, diarrhea, and vomiting.

Most people recover in a day or two, but it can be more serious for children and the elderly.

The Evanston health department is asking all long term care facilities to report unusual cases of stomach problems.
