President Barack Obama's drug czar may be in the running to take over as Chicago's top cop.

Gil Kerlikowske was Seattle's chief of police before he became the White House director of national drug control policy.

The Chicago News Cooperative reports that Kerlikowske met last week with Chicago Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel about the job of Chicago police superintendent.

Tuesday, in Washington, Kerlikowske announced a plan to crack down on the abuse of prescription drugs.
