Cemetery operators say new laws too burdensome

Some cemetery operators say new laws passed last year governing cemetery procedures following the Burr Oak scandal are too burdensome.

The laws were aimed at preventing a repeat of the alleged Burr Oak plot-selling scheme.

A new bill is aimed at scaling back the laws, including doing away with some licensing and insurance stipulations on operators. Some legislators and members of the task force that crafted last year's legislation say the new bill goes too far.
