Tinley Park Officer John Leonard, 37, is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. His bail was set at $35,000.
According to police, Leonard was driving a village-owned vehicle on May 1 when he rear-ended a vehicle at an intersection in Frankfurt, then fled the scene. He was stopped by police about 10 miles away. A passenger in the other car suffered minor injuries.
Leonard is now paid administrative leave. A spokesperson for the Will County State's Attorney said Leonard could face additional charges.
