Coffee may lower women's risk of certain cancer

May 11, 2011

A new study has linked consumption of five or more cups of coffee a day with an up to 57 percent lower risk for developing the non-hormone responsive disease known as ER negative breast cancer.

Scientists reporting in Breast Cancer Research say they don't know why this is true or what specific type of coffee makes the difference.

But they do know there is a protective effect. They say the next step is to find out what chemical factors cause the decrease.
