Aurora police searching for missing 6-year-old boy

May 15, 2011 (AURORA, Ill.)

Timmothy Pitzen was last seen in Wisconsin Dells with his mother, 43-year-old Amy Fry-Pitzen. She was found dead Saturday after reportedly committing suicide inside a motel room in Rockford.

Police say she left a note saying Timmothy was OK and in the care of unnamed people. The pair was originally reported missing on Wednesday; however, she contacted family members on Friday to say they were fine and not in any danger.

"We have no idea if the boy is in danger but certainly we're concerned for his safety, for his welfare," said Aurora's Director of Public Information Dan Ferrelli.

"Not knowing where he is or who he's with or what happened to him is just heartbreaking and terrible, and it's so sad what happened to Amy. She was a wonderful daughter-in-law and a wonderful mom," said the missing boy's grandmother Linda Pitzen.

The missing boy Timmothy Pitzen is 4 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 70 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone who has any information on the case is asked to call Aurora police at 630-256-5500.
