A controversial vaccine recommended for girls could also protect boys against certain types of cancer.

The human papiloma virus is the sexually transmitted disease which can lead to cervical cancer in women.

The HPV vaccine is recommended for women under 26 years old. But researchers now say it can also help prevent certain cancers in men and that boys should also be vaccinated.

The FDA approved the first HPV vaccine, Gardasil, back in 2006.
