Feds to investigate third-party airline ticket sellers

May 20, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The airline says it will cooperate with the Justice Department's probe into whether global distribution systems that sell airline tickets on the internet violated anti-trust laws.

This comes after American Airlines filed a lawsuit against the Orbitz website and airfare data provider Travelport. The airline is upset over the way information about flights and fares was shared.

American wants to get rid of the distribution systems and deal directly with travel agents.
