The antidepressant Paxil and the cholesterol lowering medication Pravachol are commonly prescribed drugs. A new study finds that when used together they appear to significantly raise blood sugar levels.
The increase is said to be most apparent and concerning among diabetics whose blood sugar is already too high.
There is concern that the interaction may be spiking blood sugars levels and triggering a diagnosis of type-2 diabetes in some patients.
Researchers say they can't yet explain the effect of the combination.
The study appears in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
