Oprah show viewers join in community service

May 28, 2011 (CHICAGO)

All of them were part of the group of Ultimate Viewers she took to Australia last year. They decided to reunite Saturday in Oprah's hometown for a day of service. Some Ultimate Viewers cooked and served breakfast for Chicago seniors, while others helped care for the animals at PAWS Chicago. It's their way of thanking Oprah for such a memorable trip. One Ultimate Viewer traveled here from Florida.

"Wonderful way for us to honor her in her own city. This is 'O' city, and we know that she loved animals," said Ultimate Viewer volunteer Liz Kuzungo.

"How do you say thank you to Oprah? And so this is, I know that animals are near and dear to her heart, that it was a great way to say thank you by volunteering," said Ultimate Viewer volunteer Tricia Thompson.

"It was such a life altering experience that when the opportunity to serve came up, I couldn't help but give," said Ultimate Viewer volunteer Sheree Franklin-Hill.

The Ultimate Viewers hope to inspire others to volunteer in their communities.
