The annual WOOGMS Parade started with the idea that kids would rather be in a parade than watch one pass by.
This so-called "do it yourself parade" takes place each Memorial Day and Labor Day on the North Side.
Where does the unusual name come from?
It stands for "Wellington Oakdale Old Glory Marching Society."
