Cool, wet May might mean more mosquitoes

Health officials in the western suburbs are warning residents to get ready for mosquitoes.

The DuPage County Health Department says cool, wet weather in May has created the perfect breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

These are those pesky floodwater mosquitoes, not the type that carry the West Nile virus.

They breed in standing water during dry, hot weather.

Health officials recommend you wear long sleeves and repellent and get rid of any standing water outside your home.
