New research on testosterone, age

Age alone may not be the only reason testosterone levels start to drop later in life.

New research from the University of Sydney finds blood testosterone amounts didn't fall in older men with optimal health. But in those with declining health, amounts of the male hormone were more likely to drop.

Preliminary results were presented Tuesday at the Endocrine Society's annual meeting.

Researchers say more studies are needed to better understand the role overall health may play in declining testosterone.
