Lynwood police are asking for witnesses to come forward in the case of a south suburban high school basketball star who was shot to death last weekend.

Ryan Royall, 17, just completed his junior year at Hillcrest High School. He and a group of friends were leaving a birthday party early last Sunday at Ho-Chunk Sports and Expo center in Lynwood when shots were fired at another group of people. Royall was hit and died a short time later.

"We are here today to reach out to those witnesses, parents, employees, the host of the party, and ask them to cooperate with us and come forward and give us further information, especially if you were there on that date, " said Lynwood Deputy Police Chief Greg Szymanski.

A second teen was wounded in the shooting. No arrests have been made.
