Alcohol sales continue to go up

Sageworks, a financial information company, says sales of alcoholic beverages jumped nearly 10 percent over the last 12 months despite an unemployment rate of more than 9 percent during that period.

The increase comes after a jump in sales of more than 9 percent rise in 2008 the first full year of the recession.

Analysts say alcohol remains a big seller even when the economy is poor and jobs are scarce.
