Exposing kids to pets early may curb allergies

A new study is backing previous ones that found early pet exposure won't up your child's allergy risk, but in fact may actually protect against such allergies.

It found among other things teens born via c-section delivery had a 67 percent decreased risk of dog allergy when they lived with a dog during their first year of life.

Scientists reporting in the journal Clinical and Experimental Allergy say they're not recommending everyone go out and get a dog or cat to prevent allergies but want more research to determine why this appears to be the case.
