A Burlington Northern train struck the two as it was approaching a station in Cicero overnight. It was not clear Tuesday morning what the two victims were doing near the tracks.
The second victim had been transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition but died later. There was an initial word of a third victim, but no one was found.
Metra passengers were moved to another train after a one-hour delay.
