'One Summer Chicago' program aims to cut crime

June 22, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle talked about the goals of the program.

It will take place in Garfield Park, Englewood, Woodlawn and Little Village.

The idea is to give young people alternatives to violence, like jobs and athletics.

A study will be done to see if the program, along with additional policing, reduces crime.
