Crews were working Monday morning to remove a car from the Fox River in far west suburban Elgin.

Elgin spokesperson Sue Olafson said no one was in the car. Dive teams from Elgin and South Elgin responded and began working to retrieve the car.

Crews will search the shoreline for anyone that may have been inside the vehicle.

The car was in the water near National St. and Wellington St. It was not clear Monday morning how the car got into the river.

Monday morning, there were many emergency crews along the bike trail under U.S. 20.
