Simple steps can help dieters lose deep belly fat

A new study finds simple steps can help you lose this deep belly fat.

High rates of visceral fat are associated with high blood pressure, diabetes and fatty liver disease.

This study found just 10 grams of soluble fiber -- two small apples, one cup of green peas and one half cup of pinto beans daily -- reduced this fat by 3.7 percent over five years.

Add 30 minutes of vigorous exercise two to four times a week and that resulted in a 7.4 percent reduction over the same time period.

The study appears in the journal Obesity.
