Downers Grove changes torando siren policy

Authorities in Downers Grove have changed their policy on when sirens will be sounded for severe weather.

High-ranking village officials can now trigger the sirens if they determine there is an imminent threat from a tornado or high winds.

Many residents were upset that sirens failed to sound when a tornado touched down last month.

On Tuesday, village commissioners will meet to discuss other possible changes.
