Emergency siren policy changes in Downers Grove

Authorities in Downers Grove are expected to talk about changes to the tornado siren policy Tuesday at the monthly council meeting.

Officials can now trigger the sirens if they determine there is an imminent threat from a tornado or high winds.

Some Downers Grove residents were upset that the warning sirens were not used when a tornado touched down in June.

A Plainfield official said the suburb will also be reviewing why sirens did not go off in all areas of that village.
