Back-to-school sales begin

Toys R Us has already launched a sale on backpacks and lunchboxes as it and other retailers try to get an early start on attracting back-to-school shoppers.

Target and Office Depot begin their big push to sell school supplies on Sunday.

The National Retail Federation says last year consumers spent more than $55 billion on school items. That's driving retailers this year to get an even earlier start on attracting back to school dollars.
