Internet providers lead anti-piracy effort

If you download movies, music or TV shows without permission, your Internet access may be slowed or even restricted.

It's a new industry-wide anti-piracy effort led by several big internet providers including AT&T and Verizon. They will alert customers up to six times, if it appears their account is being used for illegal downloading. If it continues, the providers can temporarily slow the user's Internet speed.

Movie studios and record labels are partners in the effort.
