The shootings happened in Maywood about a mile and a half apart. One happened along South 14th Avenue while the other on South 2nd Avenue.
The victims are identified as Sharon Draine, 16, of Bellwood, and Demetrius Delacy, 17, of Maywood. Friends and family of Delacy gathered near a makeshift memorial Saturday afternoon in his honor.
"That's my heart man. That's my little nephew. I took care of him. I'm almost like his daddy but I'm his uncle. It hurt me man," said Delacy's uncle.
Maywood police are interviewing witnesses. They say different weapons were used in each shooting but haven't ruled out the possibility that the shootings were related.
